I would like to offer readers a fresh take on places to visit in Germany while avoiding these typical destinations. The perfect place to start an adventure in Germany is in the capital city of Berlin. No German city better combines history and pop culture than Berlin. Take a walk along the line of the former Berlin Wall and tour the Reichstag, the German parliament. While touring Berlin, keep an eye out for its marvelous historical and modern architecture. This city is famous for its festivals and nightlife, and also for its world-famous resident of the Berlin Zoo, a polar bear named Knut! Another excellent destination in Germany is the northern port city of Hamburg. During the day, tour the city and visit the Hamburg city hall and its many art galleries and museums. Join in cheering on Germany’s favorite sport and check out a Hamburg Bundesliga soccer game. For those who love going out on a Saturday night, the best plan is to head to the St. Pauli district and experience the surreal nightlife of the clubs and concert venues of the Reeperbahn. After a night of partying, head down to the banks of the Elbe river at sunrise Sunday morning and grab a bite to eat at the famous Fischmarkt. Each year on the evening of the 30th of April, a curious event takes place on the Brocken, the highest point in the Harz mountain range of Northern Germany. The Walpurgisnacht is the cause for festivities on the mountain, drawing the witches in to await and celebrate the coming of Spring. In Bavaria the Romantic Road is a one of the best road and you should travel in this when you go to Germany without fail. Look Germany is a historic place since the 2nd world was taken place in Germany. During Second World War the buildings that adorned the square were almost completely damaged, the present building in the competition are made with the designs made by the world’s major architects. Each city of Germany has a rich history which is reflected in the culture architecture. Bamberg is an imperial city which has been listed as UNESCO. Berlin is the capital of Germany. In and around Berlin there are number of hotels available for reasonable rates. In Berlin all kinds of restaurants and bars are situated around the square and in the neighboring streets. The shopping centre, railway station is very near by and you can enjoy. The transport system at Berlin is a very good system. There is an integrated transport system of U-Bahn (underground), buses, trams, S-Bahn (light rail) and ferries, which you can use to get almost anywhere in the city, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Even during night there are no limits on movements, since there are numerous night buses and trains. Visa is required for the foreigners other than the citizens of the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Australia, Japan, Canada, Korea, Israel, and New Zealand who do not require Visa but passport is enough. When most Americans picture Germany, images of Lederhosen and Dirndl are conjured up almost immediately, along with beer and bratwurst. The origin of this traditional style of dress can be found in Bavaria, where it is still worn during celebrations and festivals, and also in some of the larger beer halls. September is perhaps the most interesting month to visit Bavaria, when tourists from all over the world flock to Munich to celebrate Oktoberfest. The city of Munich itself is one of the top tourist destinations in Germany, and Oktoberfest merely adds to the number of attractions that this city has to offer. After spending time in the numerous beer tents of Oktoberfest, a visitor can wander through downtown, starting in the center at Marienplatz, which features the New Town Hall on the side of which the world-famous Glockenspiel can be found. Bordering on Marienplatz is the famous Peterskirche (St. Peter’s Church), which features a climbable bell tower that offers spectacular views over the city from the top. Frauenkirche (Cathedral of Our Blessed Lady) is the most famous building in Munich and also worth a visit. The numerous breweries of the city are featured at Oktoberfest, but the beer halls themselves are always worth a separate visit, as well. Just outside of Munich lie many other attractions: the former concentration camp Dachau is a mere 30 minutes away, the Alps can be reached within an hour, and Salzburg, the home of the Sound of Music, is only 1-1/2 hours away. Everything can be reached via rail or car, making access convenient and easy, and with the advanced transportation infrastructure of the Autobahn and high-speed rail lines, travel times have never been quicker! Also, Munich’s Franz Josef Strauss International Airport is Germany’s second-largest airport, allowing easy international access to and from the city.
